Celebrating National Carers Week: Recognising the Heart Behind the Care

At Just Plan Managers, we want to take a moment to celebrate and acknowledge the incredible carers who support people with disabilities across Australia — especially the many carers we interact with every day through our participants.

What Is National Carers Week?

National Carers Week is an annual campaign dedicated to recognising and celebrating the 2.65 million unpaid carers in Australia who provide ongoing care and support to family members and friends. It’s an opportunity for all of us — individuals, communities, and organisations — to pause and reflect on the essential role carers play in our society.

This important week was first launched in 1992 by Carers Australia, and has since grown into a nationwide initiative supported by governments, businesses, and community organisations. Its goal is simple yet powerful: to raise awareness about the challenges carers face and to show appreciation for their compassion, patience, and dedication.

The Invisible Backbone of Our Community

Carers are often the quiet heroes behind the scenes — balancing complex medical routines, emotional support, and daily logistics, all while managing their own lives. Their work is physically demanding and emotionally draining, yet it’s often unpaid, unseen, and undervalued.

Many of the participants we support at Just Plan Managers rely on their carers to navigate the NDIS and manage everyday life. We see the sacrifices they make and the love that fuels their commitment. National Carers Week reminds us that behind every participant, there’s often someone tirelessly holding things together.

Our Commitment as Plan Managers

At Just Plan Managers, we believe part of our role is to take some of that load off carers’ shoulders. By managing NDIS funds efficiently, ensuring invoices are processed quickly, and handling the admin side of things, we help carers reclaim a bit of time and mental space — to rest, recharge, or simply breathe.

We aim to make plan management simple, transparent, and reliable so carers can focus on what truly matters: caring.
