The NDIS ensures that participants receive value for their money by regulating the pricing for supports. It’s important for participants and providers to understand and adhere to these pricing arrangements to prevent overcharging and ensure compliance.
If you are using Plan Managements services, this is also very important as your Plan Manager is unable to process any invoices that are over the NDIS stated price limit.
If you haven’t already, feel free to have a read in our article about the updated New NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
NDIS price limits set the maximum amounts that providers can charge for various supports. These limits are reviewed and updated annually to reflect the current market conditions and to ensure fairness.
Adhering to the NDIS price limit ensures that participants can maximise the use of their funding without overspending. It also ensures the invoicing to providers can be done smoothly, as well as maintains the integrity of the NDIS, preventing misuse of funds and making sure supports are affordable and accessible.
Different supports can be subject to different price regulations:
Price controlled supports: These supports have set maximum prices that providers cannot exceed. Participants should ensure that invoices from providers do not exceed these limits.
Quotable supports: These supports require a quotation and must be specifically included in the participants plan.
Non-price controlled supports: Some supports are not subject to price control. These do not have set price limits but must be reasonable and necessary. Participants should negotiate fair prices with their providers.
Typically, support items with price limits have a single national price limit. However, in certain cases, the price limits may vary by region.
Price limits can vary depending on the location where the service is provided. Higher limits can apply in remote and very remote areas to account for the additional costs associated with service delivery in these regions.
Below are some examples of NDIS price limits for some of the popular services across different states and remote services as per the 2024-2025 NDIS guide:
